Black Belts Against Drugs is a non-profit martial arts demonstration team dedicated to the prevention and awareness of substance abuse. This team puts on martial arts demonstrations free of charge to bring awareness to this growing problem. Young people can avoid the dangerous lure of drug use through these protective factors:
If you or someone you care about is suffering from drug related problems, please seek help. There are a number of local agencies that deal with this issue. Numbers can be found in the phone book or by contacting the Lake County Health Department.
This team is championed by Lisa
Hartman-Stackhouse and her husband Rod.
Lisa’s education and training as a certified substance abuse
counselor provides guidance for the content of the program.
Rod, a two time Illinois state martial arts champion, provides
technical training for the team and the action to get the attention of the
